Comments from Our Interns

"Having the opportunity to work in a real world environment gave me the ability to put textbook knowledge into the real world! Dr. Tankersley is a very effective teacher and gives valuable insight into all aspects of his practice. The connections that I made there and the lessons I learned during the Summer Internship will benefit me greatly as I continue with my education and professional development. "

Morgan Schrum, TCU, Class of 2026

"I completed The Tankersley Clinic Summer Internship during the summer after my M1 year in 2019, and it was a great way for me to gain clinical skills and advance research. This experience provided me with an in-depth exposure to the field of allergy and immunology that I would not have otherwise gotten in my standard medical school curriculum, and that learning experience still shapes my practice as a dermatologist today. In addition to excellent clinical exposure and dedicated time for research, I also gained information on how to run a business as a physician. Despite all these things, I believe the greatest thing I gained from the internship was a dear mentor in Dr. Tankersley, who has and continues to encourage and support me in my career. This internship was one of the best things I did during medical school to assist my career development, and I couldn’t recommend it more!"

Hannah Russel, MD

Dermatologist

Dermatology Clinic of Jackson

"I enjoyed participating in the Summer Internship in 2022. At the time, I did not realize how much overlap there would be between what I learned during the internship and what I would later learn in nursing school. The internship helped me build both knowledge and hands-on skills that made me feel more prepared and confident once I began my nursing classes and clinicals. I am very thankful for the opportunity because it positively impacted my learning experience and helped me succeed in nursing school.
